CORRE BOARD MEETING
JULY 17, 2019

Attendees: Angelelli, Emery, Gibson, Hightower, Honeycutt, Mason, McGrory, McRae, Morrow, Petrie, Peterson, Randolph, Whitehead, Whitley

• Minutes – Approved.

• May/June Treasurer’s Reports – Approved.

• CNS – No report.

• Golden – Whitehead
• Meeting with Tarcza on benefits re spouses.
• Met with deputy manager and HR specialist.
• DOE guards interested in and supportive of our position.
• DOE said benefits position was negotiated with Wackenhut as part of the union contract..
• DOE guards disagreed.
• Whitehead then talked to chief steward of K-25 guards who said the issue had never been on the table.
• Mary Jane to get copies of contracts. Whitley: Ask Randy Lawson who negotiated security contracts to come speak to us.
• There is a union grievance awaiting 3rd step on this issue.
• All K-25 guards will be eliminated on September 30 (laid off).
• Mason: What is CORRE going to do?
• Whitehead: Going to examine contracts and go back to DOE.

• UCOR – Peterson
• Sandy Keen put out emails asking for board member interest but has no response yet.

• UT- Battelle – Emery
• Tried to set up meeting; not set up yet.
• Early August suggestion; will ask for 3 dates.
• Request made for retirees by zip.
• Will check on guard issue.

• Planning Committee – Gibson
• Discussion of Luther’s letter proposal.
• Synopsis of RFP on July 2.
• Some RFPs have had community day.
• Request for community day.
• Whitehead – Our interests are
• Who will administer retiree benefits?
• What RFP will require new contractor to provide?
• Peterson – Should we talk to someone local first (Jay Mullis)?
• Morrow – Should we address these issues before RFP?
• Whitley – Let’s write a letter to our congressmen/senators regarding CORRE’s mission with respect to benefits as contractors are changed.
• Maybe include Hanford, Savannah River.
• Whitehead -- Want to go ahead and send the email?
• Try to communicate with Mullis first.

• Nominations – Hightower
• Report sent out by email.
• 23 names identified.
• 2 agreed to serve; 2 thinking about it; 12 declined; 4 no contact info; 1 agreed but not yet retired.
• Looking for more names for board.

• Communications – Kibbe on vacation.

• Website – Honeycutt
• Email meeting of website committee results follow:
• Website valuable and should continue; board agrees.
• Current website outdated and hard to support.
• We should not expect board member to support website.
• Let’s contract with someone to rebuild or maintain website.
• We suggest to go to website company to maintain site or rebuild site.
• Maybe rebuild ($1500?) and maintain ($1000/yr?).
• Hightower – Move we authorize website committee to go ahead and make a contact to rebuild and/or update and host our website; make 2 contacts. Whitley second. Approved.
• Honeycutt will bring info regarding $s. and work back to next meeting.
• We want new website person on board by annual meeting.

• Other Sites – Morrow
• Report on SR letter to legislators.
• Potential for NSA take over operating SR site, currently operated by DOE-EM.
• Review of ongoing activities associated with SR retirees.

• Legislative – Whitley
• No report.
• Whitehead – Burchett has Knox, Maryville offices.
• Whitehead to pursue contact.

• Annual Meeting – Mary Jane White not in attendance.
• Application for New Hope under way.
• Fees waived.
• Action plan sent out.
• Probably no contractor presentations; they may be there.
• Comparison with Cold War Patriots approach.
• Cold War Patriots will partner with us.
• We had 2 people at our open house.
