Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees (CORRE) Board Meeting

April 16, 2025

Contractor Contact Team Reports

CNS – nothing new to report

Simmons & Golden – no news to report

UCOR – Riggs updated the members on the upcoming April 26th K-25 Reunion and the UCOR Retiree Reimbursement Account activity.

UT – Battelle – Hightower plans a Contractor Meeting for Thursday, May 29th at 1 p.m. He will create a template of discussion questions to be used at this meeting and for other contractor meetings to follow. The ORNL UT-Battelle contract was extended for 5 years.

Committee and Task Team Reports

Planning – Gibson reported minor revisions to the 2025 Strategic Plan.

Nominations – Franco has sent the initial invitation to remain on the 2026 Board to Board members, and at this time we may need to replace six (6) Board members. Stay tuned for updates.

Communications – McSpadden discussed his work on the IDI-CORE testing and was able to add about 600 email addresses to our database, with adding street addresses and phone numbers for many of the members. Simultaneously, in testing MailChimp, he uploaded additional email addresses for a total of almost 1,900 members. McSpadden spoke about the upcoming K-25 Reunion and was able to add updated contact information on about two dozen new members. He has prepared a registration form to be used by the K-25 Reunion Committee to be input into a database and shared with the K-25 Reunion Committee Chairperson for future reference. He visited the Oak Ridge Senior Center on April 14 and left them CORRE brochures; we are invited to schedule a visit to discuss CORRE with senior center members, when there is activity (i.e. Bingo night). McSpadden also prepared a FileMaker Pro CORRE Membership Database User Guide and distributed to users of the CORRE Board.

Website – Birk spoke about adding current photos to the website and will be spending more time working on the website in May.

Other DOE Sites – Gibson will attend the SRS annual meeting; he spoke about the Rocky Flats social club and they have a $200 per month RHRA stipend. He also reported on the Annual Funding Notices.

Government Relations – Cox will be sending pertinent information to Board members.

Annual Meeting – The meeting is set for the Zack Wamp Auditorium in the New Hope Center on November 7, at 10 a.m.

By-Laws – Shelton has requested a review by the By-law Committee and received no input for changes although he continues to take future comments.

Executive (Pension Increase Initiative) – Wasilko reported no new information due to the recent Government DOGE and reorganization efforts.
Other Business

Monthly BOD Expenditures – Nothing to report.

Work Plan Actions – Items are complete.

Independent Financial Review – Nothing to report.

Annual Report – The Report has been filed with the State and the IRS. Contractor meetings are to be scheduled soon.

Other Business – We plan to have CORRE representatives at the K-25 Reunion on April 26 and provide membership opportunities.
