Coalition of Oak Ridge Retired Employees (CORRE) Board Meeting
February 19, 2025

Call to order 10:05 – Whitehead

Contractor Contact Team Reports
CNS – Gibson reported VIA is contacting members one by one
Simmons & Golden Security LLC - Burton reported the annual retreat was held a couple of weeks ago and a meeting is planned for this summer.
UCOR – Riggs discussed the deadline for submission of RRA expenditures for reimbursement is sliding to May 1, due to Hurricane Helene and tragic flooding; we continue to work with UCOR’s Stephanie Strickland to communicate the importance of obtaining RRA submissions. The K-25 Reunion planning committee is meeting every 2 weeks to meet the planning logistics of the April 26th date. Gibson interjected
Jay Mullis retiring and other potential changes.
UT-Battelle – Hightower had no new information on ORNL contract rebid.
Committee and Task Team Reports
Planning – Gibson discussed Planning Committee meeting, Strategic Plan; PBGC changes, and health plan metrics.
Nominations – Franco – nothing new to report.
Communications – McSpadden is finalizing a CORRE Winter Newsletter; he added that Contractors should be encouraged to provide newsworthy information to be published in CORRE newsletters similar to UCOR’s Stephanie Strickland’s reaching out to publish information on RRA submissions; he targeted and discussed three things to focus on: 1) how to send bulk emails, 2) CORRE Database and the need to have a database that can reside on the web, 3) how to keep the Database current and IDI Core testing. McSpadden asks that everyone look at the tri-fold brochure to make updates; he will send to Board members to obtain your comments.
Website – Birk began with a big thank you to McSpadden and an apology for prioritizing her time to finalize other assignments; she reported work on links to retiree websites after meeting with Byrd; she discussed ways to feed info to Byrd; Birk said our members will be asked to provide content to the website; she also asked for pictures; she will contact Kibbe for Annual Meeting photos.
Other DOE Sites – Gibson reported on a new funding notice at Idaho, SRS split insurance with contractors.
Government Relations – nothing new to report
Annual meeting – McRae has submitted reservation paperwork for the New Hope Building Wamp Auditorium, Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10 a.m. Mark your calendars now.
Pension Fund Analysis – Gibson discussed Contractor Summary Annual Notices should be out by the end of April; a slight change occurred in inflation.
By-laws – Shelton is asking Board members to review by-laws and send comments to him by the end of the month.
Executive (Pension Increase Initiative) – Whitehead discussed the new initiative with the new DOGE efforts and the new DOE Secretary Chris White visiting Oak Ridge site the end of the next week.
Other Business
Protocol for accepting memberships and contributions was discussed. Riggs will send the Guideline for documenting new memberships to Board Members. It was mentioned the Oak Ridge Retiree Facebook page has a list of obituaries that could be helpful in updating our membership. Green stated Livengood is trying to get a list of retirees informally first then prepare a FOIA request.
Financial Advisor – Franco has nothing new to report.
Authorization of BOD Expenditures/Reimbursements – Petrie has nothing new to report.
2025 CORRE Board Annual Work Plan – Whitehead asks the Contractor contact team leaders to send a short, bulleted list of actions to accomplish to him.
Other Business – nothing new to report
